Frans K. Smit
Crafted in limited quantities, these two flagship blends honour the legacy of former Cellar Master Frans K. Smit, whose dedication shaped Spier’s winemaking journey. One red, one white – each vintage a rare expression of skill and terroir, sought after by collectors worldwide.
Frans K. Smit Varietals
White
Rounded, creamy and beautifully complex, notes of tropical fruit and elderflower merge with subtle citrus notes. The palate reveals vanilla hints and bright acidity, leading to a concentrated, persistent finish.
Red
A bold blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Deep layers of dark fruit and graphite notes emerge from structured tannins. This is a serious wine that will only improve with time.
21 Gables
Named for our farm’s unrivalled collection of 21 Cape Dutch gables, these single-varietal wines express nuances of both time and terroir. Each bottle reflects our commitment to preserving heritage while crafting wines of distinction.

Creative Block 2
A masterful duet of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Vibrant citrus and gooseberry notes meet coastal minerality, while subtle fynbos hints reveal our terroir. The touch of barrel-fermented Sémillon adds textural depth to this elegant blend.
Creative Block 3
This Rhône-style blend leads with Shiraz, enriched by Mourvèdre’s earthiness and Viognier’s aromatic lift. Violets and black cherry merge with pepper notes, while silky tannins create a sophisticated structure that rewards patience.

Five Bordeaux varieties unite in this flagship blend, led by Cabernet Sauvignon. Blackberry and cedar notes weave through layers of dark fruit, supported by refined tannins that promise graceful ageing.

Cellar Master Johan Jordaan reinterprets traditional wine styles of single varietals. His philosophy of respecting tradition while challenging convention is evident in his skilful blending of single varietal grapes grown in different areas. This range has long been one of the farm’s most awarded ranges and continues to gain stature and respect.
