The Routes of Sound 2026

Music is close to our hearts at Spier, and we have always invested in the careers of South African artists. In response to the reception for The Routes of Sound over the past two years, we are extending this bite-sized music festival from one weekend to a series of three winter weekends in 2026, featuring a total of over 40 local musicians.

The concept of The Routes of Sound plays on the words routes and roots: the paths to musical discovery you’ll follow, and the joy of enjoying music in its most elemental form: unplugged and up-close. For lovers of lyrics, it’s a compelling, enriching evening of wandering and a chance to be transported by the poetic musings of our local artists.

Age restriction: 18+ only

An intimate musical journey across our farm

Presented by Brett Bailey and Third World Bunfight, The Routes of Sound spotlights a range of outstanding musicians: some well-known, and others under the radar, in cosy, intimate settings. It takes audiences on a journey of exploration as they sample three diverse musical acts, each paired with one of Spier’s award-winning Creative Block wines, in some of our farm’s most atmospheric spaces. The evening culminates in a rousing concert.
